Church of Saint Anthony, Lisbon, Portugal

The church of Saint Anthony might be overlooked as it's close to the much more popular Lisbon's Cathedral. The church dates back to 1767 and was built on top of a previous church destroyed by the Great Earthquake of 1755, from which only the crypt remains. It is also built on the place where allegedly Saint Anthony was born and grew up. There's a modern tile panel to celebrate the presence of Pope John Paul II in 1982. It's a tradition for newlyweds to visit and leave flowers.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 18:00.
Closed on Mondays and Holidays

Entrance free
