The Museum of Man in Paris reopened in 2015 after undergoing a major renovation with the purpose of answering the three questions Paul Gauguin asks in one of his most famous paintings: "Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?". The museum was established in 1937 for the "Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne". Rubens House is the former home of painter Peter Paul Rubens. The Palazzo, designed by the painter himself after spending eight years in Italy, started being built in 1609. It included an adjacent studio where Rubens worked with his students and produced many of the works for which he is famous. Rubens lived in the house until his death. The house was eventually sold a few decades later. In 1937 the city bought it to turn it into a museum. The impressive portico connecting the studio to the residence is one of the few original parts. Other parts were renovated according to the original plans. In 1946 Rubenshuis opened to the public. Opening hours: Tues. to Sun. 10 am to 5 pm Entrance fee: €10

Guerra Junqueiro is a well known Portuguese poet from the 19th-20th centuries. The museum named after him is located in an 18th-century house built in the Baroque style. The House was donated to the City Council by his wife and his daughter. The museum was inaugurated in 1942 to remember Guerra Junqueiro and recreate is home. It has an interesting collection of furniture, decorative objects and several utensils from the 15th to the 19th centuries. The building is located close to the Cathedral and to a segment of the Fernandine wall. Opening hours: Tue. to Sat. from 10 am to 5.30 pm; Sun. to 12.30 pm. Entrance fee: €2 How to go: S. The Romantic Museum is located close to the Crystal Palace Gardens , in Quinta da Macieirinha. The manor was built in the mid 18th century by a rich merchant from Oporto. In the 19th century Charles Albert, king of Sardinia, spent his last days in exile here, where he died from tuberculosis in 1849. He was the grandfather of the Portuguese queen D. Maria Pia. The museum was inaugurated in 1972 and copies a bourgeois home of the 19th century, equipped with furniture, decorative objects and utensils from the period. There are occasional folklore shows. The museum houses a collection of garments by designers like Balenciaga and Dior. It also includes traditional costumes and garments that have been used by famous Spanish artists and celebrities.The museum was inaugurated in 2015 and covers the period from the late 19th century to the late 20th century. The museum is located in Saint Francis convent which was built in the late 15th century on top of a Mosque. The convent was enlarged and renovated several times until de 18th century. It was desacralized in the 19th century with the extinction of religious orders in Spain. Opening hours: 10 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm. Entrance fee:  €1.40
