Rotunda of Mosta, Malta

The church of Mosta is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and was built between 1833 and 1860. The neoclassical design is based on the Pantheon in Rome and it is said to be the 3rd largest unsupported dome in the world. During World War II a German bomb pierced the dome and fell into the church but failed to explode, which many Maltese consider a miracle.
