Charles Bridge, Prague, Czech Republic
Charles' Bridge, designated Stone Bridge until 1870, was commissioned by King Charles IV and built between 1357 and the beginning of the 15th century. Until 1841 it was the only bridge crossing the Vltava river. The bridge is 621 m long and almost 10 m wide.
It is decorated with 30 statues and statuaries, replicas of the original ones, most of which from the late 17th, early 18th centuries. The original statues are exhibited in the National Museum. Since 1978 the bridge is accessible by pedestrians only.
