Bolhao Market, Oporto, Portugal

The Bolhao Market, the most emblematic in Oporto, originated in 1839. However, the building that can be seen today results from renovations carried out in 1914. It's named after a water pond (bolhao) both used to water the animals and as a water source for the population. It is a good place to shop for traditional products.
The building was classified as a municipal monument in 2006 but is very deteriorated. As from 2015, there are plans to renovate the place and works should start at any moment.

Opening hours: Mon. to Fri. 7 am to 5 pm; Sat. from 7 am to 1 pm.
How to go: Bolhao metro station.
