Joan Miró Foundation, Barcelona, Spain

The Foundation Joan Miró was created by the painter himself and opened to the public on 10 June 1975. The purpose of the Foundation was to set up a centre for contemporary art research, that would encourage young artists to experiment, and to disseminate Miró's private collection. The Foundation organises temporary exhibitions of contemporary art as well as academic activities and projects, in collaboration with other institutions and organisations.

How to go: The Miró Foundation is in Montjuic. You can reach Montjuic from the Paral-lel metro station, from where you can take the funicular, or from Espanya metro station, from which you can climb the steps up to Montjuic.
