Gozo Island, Malta

Gozo is the second largest island of the seven islands of the Maltese archipelago. Smaller than the island of Malta, it's also more rural and greener. It is thought to be the legendary Calypso's island from Homer's Odyssey.
The first settlers sailed here from Sicily in 5000 BC. During the Neolithic period, the Ggantija temples were built and are amongst the world's oldest religious structures. Gozo has been governed by Malta since the beginning, with a brief period of autonomy between 1798 and 1801, when the island rebelled against the Napoleonic forces. Gozo's capital, Victoria, was thus renamed in the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887.
The island has appeared in numerous films and TV series, most notably, the 1980 Clash of Titans and the TV series Game of Thrones.

How to go: You can go to Gozo, from Malta, taking the ferry in Cirkewwa, Malta (Mgarr, Gozo)
